| Weltwitschia |
Unique to the Namib desert and surrounding areas of Africa, are the weltwitschia.

Morphologically the plant contains only 2 long strap-like leaves which continue to grow over many years. The edges age, with the wear and tear due to the desert winds sandblasting the leaves over time, but the meristematic center adds new mass.
Most of the moisture is obtained from the fog dripping onto the surfaces; rain when it comes infrequently is to inconsistent to depend on.
