Course Description
This course is a comprehensive introduction to the role of the Human Resource Person as an organizational trainer. It covers the areas of needs assessment, learner characteristics, task anlysis, training vehicle design and delivery, evaluation, and trainer networking. The use of instructional technology is an integral part of this program.
Course Objectives
The student will be able to:
- Identify and describe the various roles in the training and development field.
- Design and implement a training needs assessment.
- Identify the learning characteristics of adults.
- Recognize and describe the elements related to the foundations of training practice, such as:
- Design and delivery of training in an organization.
- Contributions of training and development to organizational goals.
- Relationships of training and development to other HR roles.
- Prepare and facilitate a short training session.
- Define and develop a statement of roles and strategies for a training and development position in an organization.
- Develop an understanding of the importance and variety of organizations and literature in a variety of media available to the practicing HRD professional.
- Prepare and use instructional technology to include desktop publishing, presentation software, and HTML.
- Create and maintain a portfolio of work and a resume.
